This guide will demonstrate the proper disassembly and assembly process to replace the Real Time Clock (RTC) battery. Insure the unit is powered off and unplugged from the power cord prior to attempting RTC battery replacement.
For Models: SPN812, SPN16I, SPNCONF, SPNDNT, DNT16i, DNT0212
Required tools/ Parts:
- #1 Phillips screw driver
- New replacement battery Part #40090
CAUTION:
Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced
Replace only with original or equivalent type.
Step #1
Remove the screws (Part# 28600 Qty: 8 and Part# 28718 Qty: 4) from the top cover to gain access to the board and RTC battery.
Remove cover and set aside (1. Part# 28718, 2. Part# 28600)
Step #2
Remove the RTC battery from the board. In the photo below, the RTC battery Part# 40090 is circled in red. Note the orientation dot in the bottom right hand corner of the part.
The RTC battery can be removed using your hand, no special tool or screw driver is required. Gently pull up on the RTC battery. This should release from the board easily without excessive force.
Step #3
Install the RTC battery. Orient the battery so that the orientation dot is positioned as shown in the photo above. Align the part so that the 4 pins engage the 4 sockets in the receptacle and press down until the battery clicks into place.
Step #4
Reassemble unit, by placing the top cover on and reinstall the screws removed in step #1. Do not over tighten the screws this will damage the housing, (1. Part# 28718, 2. Part# 28600).
Step #5
Reset time in real time clock from the ASPEN Control Panel.
- Connect power cord and turn on the unit.
- Connect unit to PC with USB cable.
- Start ASPEN Control Panel program.
- Choose Connect -> Connect via USB… from the main menu.
- Select the device from the list and click OK to connect to the device.
- Follow instructions below to reset the time and date in the device.
Choose Device Settings->Date/Time in the tree view.
Every ASPEN device contains a Real Time Clock (RTC) which maintains date and time, even when the device is powered down. Date and time can be set manually, or it can be synchronized with the PC to which it is connected.
Note: Date/Time is available only when actually connected to an ASPEN device. Date/Time settings are not included in Projects.
Time
Set the time with this control in HH:MM:SS format. Hours, minutes and seconds fields are adjusted separately. Click on one of the fields to highlight it and then use the up and down buttons to adjust the value. Note: time is set in 24 hour format, for example 14:00 is 2:00 p.m.
Date
Set the time with this control in MM:DD:YYYY format. Month, date and year fields are adjusted separately. Click on one of the fields to highlight it and then use the up and down buttons to adjust the value. The day of week is automatically computed and displayed as the date is changed.
Use PC Date/Time
Click this button to synchronize the date and time with that of the PC.
