Lectrosonics Announces Availablily Of SMQ Transmitter

Super-miniature belt pack transmitter is smallest high power unit on the market

SMQ Wierless TransmitterRio Rancho, NM – November 2006… Lectrosonics, recognized globally for its innovative designs of wireless microphone systems and audio processing products, is pleased to announce that its new SMQ “Super-Mini” quarter watt wireless transmitter has cleared FCC regulatory requirements and is now available. The 250mW RF output of the SMQ provides exceptional range and resistance to interference, and the unit’s RF-isolated output reduces IM (intermodulation) products when the transmitter is used in multi-channel systems.

Similar to the SM transmitter introduced by Lectrosonics in 2005, the new SMQ features a membrane-switch front panel, LCD display, and specially-plated machined-aluminum housing. Like the company’s SM and SMD transmitters, the SMQ responds to commands generated by the optional RM remote control unit. The SMQ is the latest offering in the Digital Hybrid Wireless™ series of products from Lectrosonics, featuring compandor-free audio and backward-compatibility with older analog wireless systems from Lectrosonics and two additional manufacturers.

The microphone input circuit for Lectrosonics’ SM family is a new-generation design using a current-servo architecture to accept the widest possible range of microphone sensitivities without distortion. The SMQ is slightly larger than the original SM in order to accommodate an additional AA battery due to the greater RF output power and, thus, is the smallest full-featured 250mW transmitter currently available on the market.

The SMQ ships with a leather belt clip pouch and a set of four, 2300mAh rechargeable NiMh AA batteries, plus a charger. An optional wire belt clip is available for the utmost in low-profile placement on the talent. The new Lectrosonics SMQ “Super-Mini” quarter watt wireless transmitter carries a MSRP of $1,960. The product is now shipping.

Karl Winkler, Lectrosonics Director of Business Development, commented on the company’s latest product offering, “Featuring Lectrosonics’ state-of-the-art Digital Hybrid Wireless technology for compandor-free, pristine quality audio, combined with a rugged housing, remote control operation, and an incredibly small form factor that makes it easy to conceal the unit on the talent, the new SMQ is ideal for a wide range of applications from live performance through field sound recording for TV and film. I’m confident the SMQ’s exceptional feature set and world-class functionality will be well received by audio professionals.”
