Below is a link to the current firmware update file for the SMWB and SMDWB transmitter series. This is a zip file, after downloading extract it into a temporary folder. Copy the file to an SD card and install in accordance with the instructions found in the SMWB Series Instruction Manual.
Whats new in bootloader versions 1.04 and 2.02?
- The bootloader now scrolls long file names when they are highlighted.
Be careful!
- Do not install a version 8.xx bootloader in transmitters with a version 1.xx or 2.xx bootloader!
- Do not install a version 2.xx bootloader in a transmitter with a 1.xx bootloader!
- Do not install a version 1.xx bootloader in a transmitter with a 2.xx bootloader!
How do I know which bootloader version is installed?
- The bootloader version is displayed when you enter firmware update mode by holding the UP and DOWN arrow buttons and powering the unit "on". The version appears at the top of the screen, for example "LDR 1.04".
How do I decide which firmware version is right for my transmitter?
- If you have SMWB version 8.xx firmware, use only SMWB version 8.xx firmware and boot loader version 8.01. These are bundled into a single file (smwb_m804-f804-b801.zip).
- If you have SMWB version 7.xx firmware, use only SMWB version 7.xx firmware and boot loader version 2.02.
- If you have SMWB version 6.xx firmware, use only SMWB version 6.xx firmware and boot loader version 1.04.
- If you have SMWB/E01 version 8.xx firmware, use only SMWB/E01 version 8.xx firmware and boot loader version 8.01. These are bundled into a single file (smwb_e01_m804-f804-b801.zip).
- If you have SMWB/E01 version 2.xx firmware, use only SMWB/E01 version 2.xx firmware and boot loader version 2.02.
- If you have SMWB/E01 version 1.xx firmware, use only SMWB/E01 version 1.xx firmware and boot loader version 1.04.
- If you have SMWB/E06 version 8.xx firmware, use only SMWB/E06 version 8.xx firmware and boot loader version 8.01. These are bundled into a single file (smwb_e06_m804-f804-b801.zip).
- If you have SMWB/E06 version 2.xx firmware, use only SMWB/E06 version 2.xx firmware and boot loader version 2.02.

Version 8.xx firmware for the SMWB, SMWB/E01, SMWB/E06, SMWB/E07 and SMDWB/X is for use only in newer product shipped after January 1, 2023.
Version 6.xx and 7.xx firmware for the SMWB and SMDWB is for use only in older product shipped after October 13, 2018 to US customers. These will bear the following new FCC ID numbers:
These ID numbers indicate conformance to the ETSI standard now in effect for wireless microphone transmitters in the United States and Canada. Here the "Nu Hybrid" compatibility mode replaces the old "400" mode used in previous versions of the product.
PLEASE NOTE:
Certain older firmware versions require a bootloader update before they are installed. This applies only to the following firmware versions:
- SMWB, SMDWB v6.xx prior to v6.52
- SMWB/E07, SMDWB/E07 v1.xx prior to v1.50
- SMWB/E01, SMDWB/E01 v1.xx prior to v1.50
- SMWB/X, SMDWB/X v1.xx prior to v1.50
Do not install a version 2.xx bootloader in a transmitter with a version 1.xx bootloader! Do not install a version 1.xx bootloader in a transmitter with a version 2.xx bootloader! Be careful!
Follow these steps to update the bootloader:
- Download the appropriate bootloader update file and extract its contents, which is a file with the name "smwb_boot_vX.XX.ldr" where X.XX is the version number, either 1.xx or 2.xx.
- Format a microSDHC card with the FAT32 file system ("Quick Format" on Windows). Copy the bootloader .ldr file to it. Insert the SD card into the slot on the transmitter.
- Enter update mode by by pressing and holding the UP and DOWN buttons while powering the unit on.
- Select UPDATE from the menu with the arrow keys and press MENU/SEL to proceed.
- The Select screen appears. Select the smwb_boot_vX_XX.ldr file with the arrow keys and press MENU/SEL to proceed.
- A warning message appears, but there is no danger. Press MENU/SEL to proceed.
- The Update bootldr? screen appears. Select Yes with the arrow keys and press MENU/SEL to start the update.
- When the update is finished, the UPDATE SUCCESS: REMOVE CARD message appears. Power the transmitter down and remove the SD card.
