16October2007 - Updated firmware has been released for the DMTH4 Digital Telephone Hybrid. New version 2.1.0 introduces:

  • Important: Because of a source code control error, the improved AEC (acoustic echo cancellation) algorithm suppposedly released in version 2.0.0 was not actually incorporated in that version, nor was it present in version 2.0.1. This omission is not obvious in many installations since the improvements to the AEC are noticable only under certain conditions, mainly large conference rooms with a large number of microphones or with very poor acoustics. Version 2.1.0 contains the "lost" AEC improvements with no other changes. We recommend that units running version 2.0.0 or 2.0.1 be upgraded to 2.1.0 if you need the improved AEC, and offer a very sincere apology for this unfortunate mistake!

31July2007 - Updated firmware has been released for the DMTH4 Digital Telephone Hybrid. New version 2.0.1 introduces:

  • The duration of the hookswitch "flash" (momentary interruption of loop current during a phone call) is now programmable from 100 to 2500 milliseconds. This is done using a new serial command, "telflashtm". This can be useful for dealing with certain PBXs which don't respond reliably to the default 500 msec hookswitch flash, but are ok with a longer flash time (in one case 700 msec did the trick). This is a global setting, changes take effect immediately for all presets.

30June2007 - Updated LecNet2 software has been released:

  • The control panel programs for DM1624, DM1612, DM812, DM84 and DMPA12 have been updated to fix the "lost labels" bug. When saving device settings to a disk file, input and output channel labels were not being written out to the file under certain conditions. The DM1624, DM1612, and DM812 control panels are now version 1.5.1, the DM84 control panel is now version 1.3.1, and the DMPA12 control panel is now version 1.0.2.

In the mix matrix, multiple crosspoints can now be selected using CTRL-left click or SHIFT-left click (as in a spreadsheet program). Once a multiple selection has been made, setting changes made to one of the crosspoints in the group will be applied to all. This is very convenient for controlling a set of crosspoints as a group.
  • Matrix crosspoint mix mode settings are now indicated by an icon superimposed on the crosspoint button. The distribution of different mix modes within the matrix is now visible "at a glance":

    btn green Auto Mix Mode
Green Button Direction Direct Mix Mode
Green Button Over Override Mix Mode

Green Button PH Phantom Mix Mode

Use installer version 1.3.3 to install the updated LecNet2 programs to your PC or laptop. This installer is also included in the LecNet2 CD release of 7Jun2007.

17May2007 - Updated firmware has been released for the DMTH4 Digital Telephone Hybrid. New version 2.0.0 introduces:

Our "2nd generation" acoustic echo cancellation system! This version bring new and improved acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) algorithms to the DMTH4. These innovations prevent divergence in "double-talk" situations and generally improve the performance of the system even when levels of local noise are high. The benefits include:

  • Dynamic convergence rate control - The echo canceller accurately discriminates between residual echo and local noise in the far side transmit signal and using this information to adjust the convergence rate "on the fly" to maximize depth of cancellation (ERLE).
  • Convergence regardless of system ERL - The echo canceller will converge even with a negative Echo Return Loss (ERL) in systems where the far side returns more echo level than the original system.
  • Convergence maintained even during "double talk" - An intelligent adaptive filter controller prevents a converged echo cancellation filter from diverging in double talk situations.

We'd like to extend hearty thanks to Ken Lewis of Sight N Sound Design for his assistance and advice during the development and testing process!

  • The Acoustic Echo Canceller (AEC) has been improved. This change eliminates intermittent "freeze ups" of the AEC under conditions of low ERL (room "gain" is high). The effect of the convergence rate control is more pronounced, but its function is unchanged - the higher the room "gain", the lower (slower) the rate for best performance.
  • The preset change sequence has been improved to ensure that no pops or clicks are heard when switching FROM a preset where one or more outputs are driven by the pink noise generator TO a preset where those outputs are driven by signals from the mixing matrix.

12April2007 - Updated firmware has been released for the DM1624, DM1612 and DM812 Digital Matrix Processors. New version 1.5.7 includes:

  • The preset change sequence has been improved to ensure that no pops or clicks are heard when switching FROM a preset where one or more outputs are driven by the pink noise generator TO a preset where those outputs are driven by signals from the mixing matrix.

  • The Macro Language facility of the DM84 has been greatly enhanced! New features such as conditional logic, loops, and user-defined variables offer new power and flexibility in controlling the DM84 using Macros. The new Macro Language features complement the Rear Panel Control system to allow sophisticated control of the DM84 using contact closures and potentiometers. Control using 3rd party systems such as AMX, Crestron, or Extron devices becomes even more straightforward now that complicated logic can be isolated within macros in the DM84, keeping it out of the controller program itself. The result is easier program maintenance and faster execution.
  • Version 1.2.1 supersedes version 1.2.0 released on 14 December 2006. It fixes a bug causing macro lines with multiple instructions to fail when a loop or conditional was present in any position other than the final position in the list of instructions.

  • Fixed bug causing transfers of macro data *from* the DM84 *to* the GUI macro editor to fail for large macros. The bug did not affect the macro data stored in nonvolatile memory, only the ability of the GUI macro editor to read it back out - so macros stored in the DM84 worked normally. Also, the bug did not affect the transfer of macro data *from* the GUI *to* the DM84, so there was no problem with the process of composing new macros in the macro editor and then storing them to the DM84 nonvolatile memory.
