DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under direct supervision performs a variety of routine tasks in a PRODUCTION environment. Requires being instructed in setting up and running a variety of non-CNC machines using jigs and fixtures. Entry level tasks generally include:
- Cutting bar stock, buffing, filing, drill press work with some lathe and mill work added.
- Can include operation of CNC machine after setup as well as sheet metal bending with varying sizes of brakes.
- Cleaning the shop, machines and sweeping/mopping the floor.
- Must be able to take direction from supervisor as well as shift leads.
- Must be a team player.
Although the above is typical of the duties and responsibilities normally performed, additional duties and responsibilities may be required as well as the ability to change and adapt to new jobs on the fly.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or equivalent. Some experience in a machine shop, automotive repair shop or comparable mechanical area with demonstrated mechanical skills and dexterity is a plus. Basic math skills are necessary for blueprint reading.
MACHINES, EQUIPMENT & TOOLS NORMALLY USED
Drill press, lathe and manual milling machine, bandsaw, cold saw, scrapers, X-Acto knives, some CNC millwork (operation only, no setup or programming), belt sander, surface grinder, dual grinding/buffing machine, various power and hand tools, high pressure air hose, roll-around carts, jigs, and fixtures. Safety glasses must always be worn while in the machine shop. Additional safety equipment to be worn or utilized as indicated by company policy or applicable State and Federal regulations.
Normal machine shop equipment and machine noise, some vibration, metal chips and shavings, lubricating oil, and grease. Tasks require sitting/standing for prolonged periods, walking, carrying and some lifting.
