TN1029 - MM400 Series Bead Chain/Lanyard Replacement

This kit includes those parts and instructions necessary to replace a broken or damaged battery cap retaining cable assembly on any existing MM400, MM400a or MM400b Transmitter. With the exception of the first illustration, only the MM400b transmitter is used; however, the same procedure applies to all transmitters in the MM400 series.

Parts included:

  • MM400b Replacement Kit
  • Replacement drive screws (3 each, Lectrosonics part number 28828)
  • Replacement spacing washers (3 each, Lectrosonics part number 28809)
  • Replacement cable lanyard (1 each, Lectrosonics part number 35900)
  • Instruction set
  • MM400 or MM400a Replacement Kit
  • Replacement drive screws (3 each, Lectrosonics part number 28807)
  • Replacement spacing washers (3 each, Lectrosonics part number 28809)
  • Replacement cable lanyard (1 each, Lectrosonics part number 35900-1)
  • Instruction set

Tools needed:

  • Vise grip pliers
  • Small Vise (or two vise grip pliers)

Procedure:

  1. Ensure the unit is turned off. If necessary, remove the antenna and microphone. Unscrew the Battery Cap,
    and remove and set aside the battery.

  2. While holding the case snuggly, use the vise grips to grip the screw head on the case and with a counter-clockwise twisting motion, gently pull the drive screw from the case. Discard the Drive Screw, but set aside the spacing washer. Use the same procedure to remove the Drive Screw on the MM400 or MM400A case.

  3. Hold the Battery Cap snugly, or use a small vise or a second pair of vise grips, and grip the Battery Cap drive screw. With a counter-clockwise twisting motion, gently remove the old drive screw from battery cap. Discard the Drive Screw, but set aside the spacing washer.

  4. Slide the new lanyard cable and spacing washer on the new Drive Screw, then use a pair of vice grips to press the new Drive Screw into the MM400B case until it stops. Be careful not to scratch the MM400B case. The drive screw should not seat completely; if it does, the lanyard may not rotate freely. If the lanyard binds, or does not turn freely, pull the drive screw out a small amount in the same manner as the drive screws were removed.

    Important: The spacing washer must be placed between the cable lanyard and the battery cap & case as shown to function correctly.

  5. Slide the new lanyard cable and spacing washer on another new Drive Screw, then use a pair of vice grips to press the new Drive Screw into the Battery Cap until it stops. Be careful not to damage the threads on the MM400B Battery Cap. As with the MM400B case, the drive screw should not seat completely; if it does, the lanyard may not rotate freely. If the lanyard binds, or does not turn freely, pull the drive screw out a small amount in the same manner as the drive screws were removed.

    Important: The spacing washer must be placed between the cable lanyard and the battery cap & case as shown to function correctly.

  6. Reinstall the battery, antenna and microphone. The unit is now ready to return to operation.

 


TN1028 - LM Belt Clip Replacement

Replacing the wire belt clip with a hinged belt clip on LM transmitters

The LM transmitter is shipped with a removable wire belt clip. Some users may want to replace this wire clip with a more rugged hinged belt clip (BCHINGED). This Tech Note describes how to replace the wire belt clip a hinged belt clip.

Tools needed:

  • Small flat blade screwdriver
  • Small phillips screwdriver
  • Long nose pliers


Procedure:

  1. Open the plastic bag containing the Belt Clip Modification Kit and ensure all the parts are available.

  2. Use flat blade screwdriver to remove one end of the wire belt clip from the LM housing. With the tension released, the other end should slide out. Then remove labels from LM housing.

  3. Press Hinge Plate so it is parallel to the belt clip, then insert the Guide Pin into the Guide Pin Hole on the LM housing. Press the hinge plate firmly so it sits flush against the LM housing, ensuring that the Retaining Screw Through Hole lines up with the threaded insert in the LM housing.

  4. Insert the 4-40x3/16 phillips head screw in the Retaining Screw Through Hole and tighten with the small phillips screwdriver. (The use of the long nose pliers may be required to place the screw in the retaining screw hole.)

  5. Peal the Bumper from its backing and place it between the Belt Clip and the LM housing.

  6. Test new clip to ensure it operates properly. The old Wire Belt Clip can either be stored for possible use in the future, or disposed of at the nearest recycling center.

 

TN1027 - Setting Compatibility Modes UCR411A (UCR511 Europe)

One of the benefits of Lectrosonics Digital Hybrid Wireless™ is its ability to operate with non-Digital Hybrid Wireless™ products, such as Lectrosonics 100 Series, 200 Series, 300 Series (European) and other analog systems. This technical note covers discovering and changing (if necessary) the compatibility mode of the UCR411A Digital Hybrid Wireless™ receiver. (This procedure also applied to the UCR511 European model.)

Discovering Current Compatibility Mode

  1. Ensure receiver and associated transmitter are turned off.
  2. Set the POWER ON/OFF switch to ON and observe the LCD. The Power Up sequence consists of four screens. The third screen displays the Compatibility Mode currently set in the UCR411A.

Changing Compatibility Mode

  1. Press the MENU Button the access the Setup Menu, then press and release the SEL Up Button until SETUP COMPAT is displayed in the LCD.
  2. Press the MENU Button to enter the COMPAT Setup Screen.
  3. Press the SEL UP or Down Button until the correct Compatibility Mode is displayed. The choices are:
    • 400 - This is the factory default setting and works with all Lectrosonics 400 Series and 500 Series (European) Digital Hybrid Wireless™ transmitters. This mode offers the best audio quality.
    • 100 - This mode works with all Lectrosonics 100 Series compatible transmitters.
    • 200 - This mode works with all Lectrosonics 200 Series and 300 Series (European) compatible transmitters.
    • MODE 3 - This mode works with a number of non-Lectrosonics analog transmitters. Contact the company for a list of compatible transmitters.
    • IFB - This mode works with all Lectrosonics IFB compatible transmitters. (requires Firmware version 1.5 and later.)
  4. Press the MENU Button once to set the selected Compatibility Mode as the current mode, then press the MENU Button once more to return to the Main Window.

For Lectrosonics Venue Receiver System

One of the benefits of Lectrosonics Digital Hybrid Wireless™ is its ability to operate with non-Digital Hybrid Wireless™ products, such as Lectrosonics 100 Series, 200 Series, 300 Series (European) and other analog systems. The Venue Receiver differs from other members in our Digital Hybrid Wireless™ line in that from one to six individual receiver modules can be installed in one master unit. Each receiver module can be operated as an independent switched diversity receiver, or as part of a ratio diversity or frequency diversity pair. The setup and operating of individual Venue Receiver Master units can be accomplished via front panel controls and LCD, or through a Windows® 2000 or XP based computer system running the VRpanel. This software is part of the LecNet2™ packaged distributed with each Venue Receiver.

This technical note covers using the LCD to discover or change (if necessary) the compatibility mode of a single Venue receiver module operating in switched diversity mode. Discovering Current Compatibility Mode for an Individual Receiver Module

  1. Ensure Venue Receiver LCD displays the Overview Screen. If any other screen is displayed, press and release the front panel BACK Button until the Overview Screen is displayed.
  2. Press the Receiver Select Button corresponding to the receiver module needing its compatibility mode verified. This displays the Receiver Detail Screen for that receiver module. Pushing the same Receiver Select Button again, displays its Receiver Info Screen. In addition to displaying the receiver module’s location (in the example below-Rx1), operating frequency block and current audio attenuator level, it also displays the receiver module’s current Compatibility Mode.

  3. Verify the Compatibility Mode agrees with the transmitter associated with that receiver module. If the Compatibility Mode agrees, press and release the BACK button until the Overview Screen is displayed.

Changing Compatibility Mode for an Individual Receiver Module

  1. From the Overview Screen, press the MENU/SELECT Control to display the SetUpRx Menu.
  2. Rotate the MENU/SELECT Control to highlight Compat, then press the MENU/SELECT Control to display the Compat Setup Screen.

  3. Press the appropriate Receiver Select Button to display the Compat Setup Screen for that receiver module.
  4. Rotate the MENU/SELECT Control to select the desired compatibility mode. The selected compatibility mode will be displayed in the Compat Setup Screen and an abbreviation of the selected mode will appear in the associated Receiver Module Box. The available compatibility modes are:
    • HYB- This is the factory default setting and works with all Lectrosonics Digital Hybrid Wireless™ (400 Series, 500 Series in Europe) transmitters. This mode offers the best audio quality.
    • M 3 - Mode 3 works with a number of non-Lectrosonics analog transmitters. Contact the company for a list of compatible transmitters.
    • 200 - This mode works with all Lectrosonics 200 Series and 300 Series (Europe) compatible transmitters.
    • 100 - This mode works with all Lectrosonics 100 Series compatible transmitters.
    • IFB - IFB mode works will all Lectrosonics IFB transmitters.
  5. You can either select another receiver module by pressing the appropriate front panel Receiver Select Button, or press and release the front panel BACK Button to return to the Overview Screen. Selecting a different receiver module results in that receiver module’s compatibility mode being displayed in the Compat Setup Screen and the Receiver Module Box being highlighted. To change that receiver module’s compatibility mode, repeat Step 4.

Setting Compatibility Mode

  1. Ensure receiver and associated transmitter are turned off.
  2. Push the POWER/PREV MENU button on the R400 front panel. After a few seconds, the Main Window will appear.
  3. Push the MENU/SELECT Control the access the TopMenu. Press the MENU/SELECT Control again to display the SetUpRx Menu.
  4. Rotate the MENU/SELECT Contol to highlight Compat, then press the MENU/SELECT Control to access the Compat Setup Screen.

  5. Rotate the MENU/SELECT Control to display the Compatibility Mode matching the associated transmitter. The available Compatiblity Modes are:
