When Slash was gearing up for the current Velvet Revolver worldwide tour, a new touring guitar rig was required to match the effects and sounds created in the studio for the latest record. According to Adam Day, Slash’s guitar tech, “A clean, convenient, sonically transparent switching system was now needed more than ever. One of the most (if not the most) important components considered was the wireless system. When a well respected pro guitarist referred us to the Lectrosonics, we decided to give it a serious listen along with two or three other top wireless systems.”
The Boston Symphony Orchestra is, without question, one of the world’s premier orchestras. Hence, one would only expect that those tasked with recording the orchestra’s performances be every bit on par in terms of their application knowledge and the quality of the recordings they produce. Such is the case with Boston-based Soundmirror, Inc., a fully digital recording and post-production company specializing in acoustic music and sound for picture. For quite some time, the recording crew responsible for capturing the orchestra’s performances wrestled with the best means of recording the celli. They found their solution with a wireless microphone system from Lectrosonics.

This year, the quartet decided to bring in some technological help in order to be properly heard.
When it comes to outfitting the actors and actresses of contemporary TV shows with wireless transmitters for capturing location sound, the snug, form fitting clothing so popular these days frequently presents the audio crews with a unique set of challenges. They found the solution to this vexing issue with a number of products from the Lectrosonics catalog.
Football is generally considered the hardest-hitting contact sport. With games played in all types of weather—from blazing heat, to drenching rain, to ice and snow—this is not an environment that is conducive to temperamental electronics. For Soundriven, Inc., the firm contracted to provide on-field audio for the Baltimore Ravens football games, the need for top quality, rugged wireless microphone equipment with the right feature set is of paramount concern. For this reason, they look to wireless products from Lectrosonics for the answer.
For most of us, few things in life are more unsettling—or outright scary—than the prospect of heart surgery. So it doesn’t take much to appreciate the necessity for clear, dropout-free communication between the doctors that perform these delicate procedures and the technicians who assist them. One misinterpreted verbal cue from a surgeon can have catastrophic consequences. To ensure this doesn’t happen, the doctors and technicians at South Shore Hospital rely on a Lectrosonics DM84 Digital Matrix Processor to ensure clear, reliable communication.
Few things are more frustrating than bad sound, and for church leaders at Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano, a Catholic Church a short hop North of San Diego, the inability to consistently obtain clear audio at manageable levels was an issue that could no longer be ignored. Designed to coincide with the installation of a new and incredibly ornate, gold retablo (an artistic wall or surface) altar, and ambo (lectern)—all of which were hand crafted in Spain for the church—officials decided an upgraded sound system would also be deployed.
For the students enrolled in Dillard University’s TV production program, the ability to work with the “tools of the trade” encountered in real-world production environments is considered essential. Hence, when it came time to rebuild the university’s television production studio after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, Mark Raymond, Dillard University’s Instructor of Mass Communications, decided to invest in numerous components from the wireless catalog of Lectrosonics.

As anyone who works with electronic equipment knows all too well, moisture of any type can be the kiss of death. So you can image what must have run through the mind of Tom Clark of New York's Acme Sound Partners, LLC, whose firm provides theatrical sound design services for plays and musicals, when he discovered he needed to find a way to keep the actors' wireless gear working while being submerged in a pool of water during this summer's rendition of Romeo and Juliet in Central Park. To help him address this daunting challenge, Clark turned to Lectrosonics for the solution.
Few sports involve the rough and tumble body contact that NFL (National Football League) players endure on a daily basis. Capturing the on-field audio during the game is no small task—for both the equipment and the audio technicians responsible for making it happen. So when push comes to shove—as it routinely does during any football game—the audio techs at NFL Films look to Lectrosonics wireless equipment to get the job done.

The event was held between 6PM and 9AM at the track & field arena at Rio Rancho High School. Michael Hetmer, event chair for the 2007 relay, contacted Karl Winkler at Lectrosonics for help with the sound system. According to Hetmer, “The 2006 event suffered because many people on the field or on the track could not always hear the music or the announcements.”
While audio levels that are too loud or too soft are always frustrating, nothing is more annoying than feedback—that howling and, often, high-pitched “screaming” that occurs when audio signals are looped back through the sound system. With this dreaded audio occurrence being the norm in their conference center, officials at the Arkansas National Guard’s Camp Robinson in North Little Rock, AR decided they’d had enough. Lectrosonics, recognized the world over as a leading manufacturer of wireless microphone systems and audio processing products, is pleased to announce Version 2.0 of the LecNet2 firmware for the DMTH4 telephone hybrid interface. Incorporating a series of improved algorithms utilized in the DMTH4’s acoustic and line echo cancellers, the new update promises greater functionality in a number of key areas.22 May 2007 - Jazzing It Up at The Grand Bohemian Hotel 14 May 2007 -
